The absence of Photo GameFace is surprising when you consider the console's ease of use when it comes to importing pictures. The biggest knock against the Wii is that it doesn't offer the Photo GameFace and GamerNet features, two of the biggest additions to this year's Tiger. Once you're done with the look of your golfer you'll get to assign skill points across the usual list of attributes, whereas on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions your skills will need to be developed with your prowess on the course. That's not to say that you can't create a ridiculous amount of character variations, but they aren't quite up to what Sony and Microsoft's systems bring to the table. The sliders that are provided don't allow for the same amount of customization in a few of the areas. Creating your golfer for use in the Tiger Challenge is a bit different on Wii. It's extremely low resolution, but it gets the point across a bit better than what's on the other two systems. The Tiger Challenge is identically designed aside from an introductory video on Wii that lays out your main goal for the mode. While Wii games have always been a bit barren in this regard, with other titles making the jump to online multiplayer you'd think that they'd spend the extra time to bring it to Tiger.Īside from those limited differences - and the fact that the Wii's list of traditional game modes is missing the classic Bingo Bango Bongo - the versions are essentially identical. Also on the list of missing features is any semblance of an online mode. There is no Party Mode present in Tiger 08 and that feature is something that has become somewhat of a staple with EA Sports' Wii games. Unlike most of the EA Sports titles that we've pitted against one another, the Wii version doesn't feature the same unique treatment that the rest of the '08 crop has seen. Is it enough to warrant the bump down in visual quality or does the Xbox 360 and PS3 version outshine the motion-based alternative? As always the developers threw in some new "features" to entice gamers to pick up Nintendo's iteration. Both will cost you $39.99, a marked improvement over the $59.99 price tag that the 360 and PS3 carry and still better than the Wii's $49.99. But which version rises above the others in terms of overall quality?
